PUT YOUR BODY
IN GOOD HANDS
Robert Gazso, M.S. —
INTERGRATIVE CLINICAL BODYWORK
Integrative Clinical Bodywork is used as a holistic approach to facilitate the healing process of several types of orthopedic issues such as back pain, impingement syndromes and tendonitis either in place of or in combination with treatment by medical practitioners.
Robert Gazso M.S., the bodywork specialist, uses several assessments including Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) to determine the nature of the orthopedic issues and develop their treatment plan. Orthopedic massage solves a two fold purpose with injury recovery. First it increase circulation to the soft tissue to aid in pain reduction along with speeding up the rate of healing. Early treatment has also been shown to help injury sites remodel connective tissue in linear bundles. Commonly, treatment plans will incorporate multiple modalities to achieve the best results.
ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE
Active Release Techniques (ART) is a patented soft tissue system, movement-based technique used to alleviate musculoskeletal disorders involving problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Guided movement is used in ART to facilitate the release of a soft tissues from a shortened to a lengthened position by doing this the neuromuscular system can go through re-education. ART has proven to be an effective form of treatment for back pain, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis and a variety of knee injuries.
Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) is a corrective movement system designed to release chronic pain, muscle tension, and muscular imbalances. NKT uses muscle testing to determine which muscles are being inhibited by muscles that are painful or over-contracted. During NKT the over-contracted muscles are released allowing the inhibited muscles re-engage which leads to the brain being able to re-learn how to perform a proper functional movement pattern.
PROPRIOCEPTIVE DEEP TENDON REFLEX
Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) is a diagnostic and treatment modality created by Orthopedic Surgeon and Neurologist Dr. Jose Palomar. P-DTR targets the receptors to ensure accurate information is relayed to the brain about touch, stretch, pressure and temperature. When inaccurate information is sent to the brain the body can send responses such as spasms, uncoordinated movement and inflexibility. P-DTR uses muscle testing to determine which receptors need to be re-educated.
MEET YOUR CLINICIAN ROBERT GAZSO M.S.
I specialize in working with pain issues, injury and post surgical rehabilitation, as well as performance enhancement. My training includes over 20 years of clinical experience as a certified massage therapist, 4,000+ hours of advanced training, and advanced certification in the most cutting edge soft tissue and neurological treatment techniques and I have achieved one of the highest levels of training in the city of San Francisco. I also have worked with top athletes such as professional major league baseball player, Jayson Werth, and that just four hours prior to his game time, and, professional cyclist, Paul Solon, and, the track athlete Brianna Stuart who finished #1 in the United States in the NCAA several days afterwards and another NCAA track athlete named Vashti Thomas, as well Oracle's America’s cup team. Besides that, I also worked for the Gaelic football team, the Ulster who finished first in the North American Championship.
My curriculum vitae includes a full body certification in Active Release Technique (ART), Level 3 certification in Neurokinetic Technique (NKT), advanced certification in Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR), and Masters of Science, Summa Cum Laude, in Rehabilitation Science from the California University of Pennsylvania.
Active Release Technique (ART) is also very effective for resolving pain and is used by professional sports teams, including the SF Giants and SF 49ers. These approaches represent the future of rehabilitation as they are focused getting to the root cause of the injury, not just treating the site of pain. The result is a quicker rehabilitation with decreased incidence of re-injury.
Additionally, I teach Sports Injury and Functional Anatomy at the Institute of Conscious Bodywork and teach my own anatomy tutorials for bodyworkers, physical therapists, and many of health and wellness professionals as I was selected from over a hundred NKT practitioners to teach tutorials for the Bay Area.
In addition to my work with elite athletes, I enjoy working with a broad range of clients and their symptoms, from post-surgery work to helping clients start walking comfortably and helping out an weekend warrior who simply wants to get back to court.
I think that I could be the right Rehabilitation Specialist for you if you are looking for help with resolving pain and injury - as my expertise and experience allows me to assess and develop the optimal treatment plan for each client I work with. Clients benefit from knowing that they are receiving the best possible treatment plan.
